Showcase Winner – The Little Cufflink Shop
Firstly, I want to say a big thank you to Freddie Pig. He’s been more than supportive of the business ever since we started in December 2012. Being a new business, I assumed it would take us about 6 months to start creating a good following on our social media sites, but with the help of Freddie Pig and countless others, we were gaining customers and recommendations by the end of January.
I, Findlay Downing, started The Little Cufflink Shop to realise the dream of running my own business. To this day, I still don’t know why I chose cufflinks, but it seems to have been the making of me! I’m only young – 18 – and one of my main goals was to prove to people kids can do good things!
Another was to have a business with a personality. Too often there are big businesses that are great, but lack the final touch – the personal touch. I was keen to create a business where customers and followers could see there was a person behind the business. I take every opportunity to get involved with Twitter, talking to customers, introduce potential customers and getting stuck into the vast array of networking hours. It’s been great to just chat with everyone on Twitter. You can have general conversations, and some slightly more unprofessional ones, and have a laugh with your customers.
Twitter has also been fantastic in introducing us to some networking and showcase awards. We are lucky enough to have won hashtag awards, and if I could do more to thank everyone, trust me, I would!
So I just want to finish with a “thank you” to everyone. For their support, advice and just general acceptance into the world of business!
